The Foundation of Light is one of the charities supported by Torgersens. Here we have an overview provided by the foundation about the great work they do across the North East.

The cross-section of people the Foundation works with is unparalleled; ages 18 months to 80 plus years and offering something for everyone; with programmes impacting on health, behaviour, attitude, skills, knowledge and much more.

Made up of teachers, health workers, coaches, family learning officers youth workers and support staff the Foundation of Light team work with over 20,000 people every year.

Whilst being the official charity of Sunderland AFC, the Foundation of Light are structurally and financially independent from the football club and responsible for fundraising £4 million each year to run our life-changing programmes. One of these is the Disability Holiday Course - you can see some of the participants from last year's programme in the photo here.

The Foundation is based at the Beacon of Light, adjacent to the Stadium of Light in Sunderland. The venue is a community sports hub with football pitches and an indoor arena to hire; all proceeds from bookings made at the Beacon go directly to supporting the work of the Foundation.

You can support the work the Foundation does by texting FOLFIVE to 70085 to make a £5 donation or by donating online via www.justgiving.com/safc. Your £5 will provide a disabled child with specialist sport classes, whilst £10 helps the Foundation teach a family to cook healthy meals on a budget. Every pound you donate makes a real difference.
