One of our four Values is to be supportive – putting people at the heart of everything we do. In line with this, we help in a number of charities in the region, including one in each of our office locations.
Cancer Connections
In Jarrow, we give a yearly donation to Cancer Connections, a charity dedicated to serving individuals and families suffering from cancer and its after-effects. Among the services that the charity provides are a telephone helpline, counselling, complimentary therapies, welfare benefits advice and bereavement support. St. Oswald’s Hospice
Our Gosforth charity is St Oswald’s Hospice, an organisation that provides specialist care to adults and children with life-limiting conditions. Torgersens is a member of the Better Together Business Club, a philanthropic initiative in support of the hospice nurses of St Oswald’s. Our membership of the club contributes to the salaries of two hospice nurses.
4Louis
Chosen by one of our team members, our Sunderland-based charity for this year is 4Louis. 4Louis supports anyone affected by miscarriage, stillbirth, or the death of a child. They provide memory boxes filled with keepsakes to help families create lasting memories of their loved one. They also provide tools, equipment, and training to hospitals, hospices, and professionals who work with grieving families.
In addition, for Christmas 2023, we were very pleased to support the Christmas operation being run by our client, FISCUS, in which it distributed gifts to over 700 vulnerable people in our communities, including children, young people OAPs and the homeless.
South Tyneside Pledge
Torgersens signed up to the South Tyneside Pledge in early 2022. The Pledge is an initiative by South Tyneside Council for local organisations and businesses to commit to taking small steps to:
- boost local economic activity
- reduce health inequalities
- reduce carbon emissions
- enhance civic pride
