A reminder to all employers that tomorrow, 10 June, is the cut off date for starting to furlough staff in order to claim a grant through the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS).

Government guidance advises that; ‘the final date by which an employer needs to agree with their employee and ensure they place them on furlough is 10 June. Employers will have until 31 July to make any claims in respect of the period to 30 June.’

This means 10 June 2020 is the last day on which someone who has never been furloughed before can start a period of furlough and qualify for their wages to be covered by the CJRS.

As outlined in our blog of 1 June, part-time working will be allowed from 1 July, but only for those staff that have been furloughed by 10 June for a minimum of three weeks from that date.

The government is due to publish further guidance on flexible furloughing and how employers should calculate claims on Friday 12 June.
